Why a blog? Well, Ryan and I decided a blog might be a great way to document our adoption journey, both the blessings and the growing pains of our family, and our "God placed" hearts for Haiti. How easy it is for our "humanness" to forget the amazing way that God has so clearly "lit up the pathway" of this calling and journey for our family. How soon we forget all of the miraculous gifts He has given us in the past year and the clear, unmistakable answers to prayers that He has laid before us. Our hope is that through a blog we can record our families journey and be able to reflect back on how truly amazing God is. Unfortunately Ryan and I did not think of the "blog idea" earlier, so we are going to have to work backwards a bit.
I am going to try to summarize where we are today and then start back in December 2009 in my next blog posting. We know for certain that God has called us to adopt specifically from Haiti. While we really thought we were stepping out on a limb and going to pursue an adoption of a 0-5 year old little Haitian girl, we now know that God had 2 specific children He intended to be a part of our family from the beginning. Judith is 10 years old and Kerby is 9 years. They are currently living at God's Littlest Angels Orphanage in Haiti. They have been officially referred to us and we are starting through the Haitian court system to complete the adoption and get them home with us as soon as possible. We also believe that God has given us a heart for Haiti and its people. We don't know what that looks like yet for our family, but we know that we will do our best to keep our eyes on Him and follow where He leads us. The timeframe for bringing Judith and Kerby home is very uncertain, but best estimates are between 12-16 months from now.
Well, that is all I have to say for my first ever blog posting. We just received our first "monthly update" of Judith and Kerby sent to us as adoptive parents. I will post a few of their pictures below.
Many blessings !
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you.” Psalm 31:8
